Mecidiyeköy – Mahmutbey metro line, which will be opened to the service of Istanbul residents, is the first driverless metro of Istanbul European Side. The metro, which can serve 70 thousand people in Istanbul per hour in one direction, is also integrated with other public transport lines.
Mecidiyekoy – Mahmutbey metro line is connecting 6 districts where nearly 3 million people live. The metro line is 18 kilometers long and it has 15 stations. Mecidiyekoy – Mahmutbey metro line will consist of 80 trains at first and it is the first one in the world with its transport capacity of 2 thousand 160 hundred passengers in one time.
When the Istanbul Airport metro line is completed, people will be able to reach the airport by transferring from the Kagithane station to the airport metro. With the Mecidiyeköy – Mahmutbey metro line, the Istanbul rail system usage rate will increase from 17.8 percent to 22.3 percent.
Mecidiyekoy – Mahmutbey metro line ranks 9th in Europe and 21st in the world in the metro line length. It ranks 24th in the world in the number of stations. The metro line is in the 1st place in the world with 2 thousand 160 people in its capacity to carry passengers in one time.
