
ITI Train (Istanbul–Tehran–Islamabad) reopened in 2020. ITI Train Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) had a meeting via video-conference earlier and Adil Karaismailoglu who is the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, attended the meeting with other transport ministers. Transport ministers made an important decision at the meeting and they decided to reopen Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad Freight Train. The freight train will resume operations at the beginning of 2021!
ITI Train (Istanbul–Tehran–Islamabad)
ITI Train (Istanbul–Tehran–Islamabad) is serving between Islamad, Pakistan and Istanbul and it is an international train launched on 14 August 2009. While it is connecting Istanbul, Islamabad and Tehran, the train has a significant value for Economic Cooperation Organization. It covers 6,500 kilometer in 16 days.
Adil Karaismailoglu made sure that all the requirements for the train have been completed. At the meeting, transport ministers also discussed the aspects of cooperation of transportation. They had a mutual agreement to keep the supply chain open in COVID-19 pandemic. It was also emphasized at the meeting that it is of great importance to widen the transportation corridors so that transportation can be carried out without interruption.
Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad Freight Train is making positive impacts in the diplomatic relations between Iran, Pakistan and Turkey. When it is reopened again it will be extremely beneficial to all three countries with its operations.
